Pat O’Hare - Chairman of HIT

Pat O’Hare started working in the drug field in the mid 80s in Liverpool where he was Director of the Mersey Drug Training and Information Centre. In 1989 he founded the International Journal of Drug Policy and was Editor for 10 years from 1990.

That same year he initiated the series of harm reduction conferences, the International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm, which was held for the first time in Liverpool in 1990. It is now in its 18th year. In 1996 he was one of the founders of the International Harm Reduction Association. He was Executive Director from 1996 until he stepped down in 2004.

PAT is currently Honorary President of IHRA and is Chairman of HIT.
