The International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm

HIT's experience of managing conferences originated with the annual International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm. The First International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm took place in Liverpool in 1990 as a response to the interest shown in what was happening in the region. The conference has been held on an annual basis throughout the world since then and has become a powerful instrument in exporting the concept of harm reduction.

The annual International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm has been held in Liverpool, 1990; Barcelona, 1991; Melbourne, 1992; Rotterdam, 1993; Toronto, 1994; Florence, 1995; Hobart, 1996; Paris, 1997; São Paulo, 1998; Geneva, 1999; Jersey, 2000; New Delhi, 2001; Ljubljana, 2002; and Chaing Mai, 2003; Melbourne, 2004; Belfast, 2005. The 17th International Conference on the Reduction of Drug Related Harm will take place in Vancouver, Canada, April 30 - May 4 2006.
