A typical course would be ideal for workers who have contact with drug using parents and their children.

This will include Substance Misuse Workers, Children and Families Social Workers (including Assessment & Care Management Teams, Fostering, Adoption Workers), Family Support Workers, Sure Start Workers, Health Visitors, Teachers (especially those with Child Protection responsibilities), Learning Mentors, Probation Service staff, Women’s Refuge Workers and some specialist Housing Workers.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • To provide an overview of the Hidden Harm agenda
  • To develop understanding of the impact of parental drug use on children To promote improved multi-agency responses to families with parental drug use
  • To improve understanding of confidentiality and information sharing
  • To increase knowledge and competence relating to engagement, assessment and support of substance using families within the context of the Common Assessment Framework
