Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug in Britain, and the first illegal substance that young people are most likely to experiment with.

The debate over cannabis has raged for over a century, and opinion is as polarised as ever. In the face of high levels of acceptance of cannabis use amongst young people, this course provides comprehensive information on cannabis and considers some important areas, such as: educating young people about the consequences of cannabis use; harm reduction interventions with cannabis users; interventions for young people who have problems associated with cannabis.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand the historical, cultural and social significance of cannabis
  • To explore the effects, risks and harms associated with using cannabis
